Final Pension Salary Scheme

A Defined Benefit pension scheme where the future pension income you have when you retire is worked out using your scheme membership (the length of time you’ve been a scheme member – part-time counts as part-years) and a version of pensionable pay. The 1995 Scheme and 2008 Scheme are Final

Final Salary

The whole-time equivalent pensionable (or reckonable) pay when you claim your pension income or left the pension scheme (not automatically your last 12 months – see the calculations for the 1995 Scheme and 2008 Scheme)

Legacy Scheme

The legacy scheme is the Pension Scheme before the (current, 2015) Pension Scheme – the 1995/2008 Scheme, which we call the 1995 Scheme and 2008 Scheme (technically they’re Sections). Anyone who joined the NHS Pension Scheme before 1 April 2015 will have Legacy Scheme pension and now 2015 Scheme pension.
