Communicating McCloud

My colleague Laura has been posting about the McCloud ruling on LinkedIn over the last few weeks. McCloud is the age discrimination case relating to 2015 public sector scheme changes. The final remedy is expected from the Treasury in the next few weeks.

Laura and I both passionately believe that how the remedy is communicated will be vital. Scheme administrators and consultants have no doubt been hard at work drafting scheme modellers and guidance notes to cater for the technicalities of the solution(s). As Laura’s Sam and Bob caricatures have hopefully highlighted, modellers and explanations are only useful if people use/read them. Across the public sector, the range and diversity of employees affected is so wide that not only will a one size fits all approach be insufficient, any approach which tries to compartmentalise members will fall short.

Laura and I have been thinking how best to approach this and will be sharing more as the details are released. The practicalities, logistics, words used and media deployed are all going to be crucial.
